Ealuation of three-dimensional SonoAVC ultrasound for antral follicle count in infertile women: its agreement with conventional two-dimensional ultrasound and serum levels of anti-Müllerian hormone
How to count AFC in 2 D method and Calculation of ovarian volume? Measurement of Ovarian volume 2 D ultrasound image?
The number of follicles in two planes, longitudinal and transverse, was determined and the average diameter was calculated. The antral follicle size was determined by two perpendicular diameters

2D ultrasound image to determine antral follicular count. Legend: Ultrasound image by 2D conventional technique that allows the observer to count the number of antral follicles as well as determine its size and volume by length × width × depth × 0.523
Take home message : The
results many studies revealed that 3D SonoAVC can estimate AFCs better when
compared to 2D ultrasound, mainly because it can capture images of ovaries with
more than 20 follicles, resulting in a more reliable counting and was found to
be faster than 2D for AFC. But the fact remains that AFCs by both technologies presented a positive
correlation to serum AMH levels.
