Spermatogensis -its hormonal control

Hormonal control of spermatogensis.
Hormone nature of origin function molecule
1 GnRH(LHRH) It is Decapeptide in nature, Source is Hypothalamus Acts on pituitary gland to secrete FSH and LH.
2 FSH : nature:---Glycoprotein : Source is pituitary gland Acts on Sertoli cells. Sertoli cells produce inhibin and also initiates spermatogenesis.
3 LH is Glycoprotein in nature, Source is pituitary gland :: Stimulated Leydig cells, which produce testosterone and maintain spermatogenesis
4 Prolactin Nature is Polypeptide Source is Pituitary (adenohypophysis) Mode of action:- Accentuates the LH effect on Leydig cells.
5 Testosterone : Chemical nature is steroid : source is Leydig cells : Effect is :maintenance of spermatogenesis. it also acts as a prohormone for estriol (E-2) and dihydrotestosterone.
6 Estrogen Chemical nature is steroid extraglandular: Source is : . Fat , Liver and muscle tissue
by aromatization of testosterone and
androstendione. Mode of action:-- regulation of LH secretion.
7 inhibin : source is from Sertoli cells : Function: is inhibition of pituitary FSH secretion and it is also a Glycoprotein in nature.
8 activin is from Leydig cells Chemical nature is Glycoprotein acts on simulation of pituitary FSH secretion
