Ideal women for oral contraceptive Pills -How long to take OCP s?

How to select the ideal contraceptive for a particular woman?? The challenge ahead??Q. 1:-Why COC is not popular in India? There are many reasons of which main cause is health risks like VTE, Breast cancer, cervical cancer and Stroke. But in many other countries such misbelieves are nonexistent duet proper counseling and regular check up while on OCP. The same concerns How to maximize the use of COC amongst lay public of India be it for disease progression(dysmeno, Meno)   or pregancy prevention ??

Q. 2: WE the  contraceptive providers must “Individualize  the  make, composition and brand of   Contraceptive ..

Q. 3: What are the lessons we have at the learnt from previous 5 decades of OCP use in India? Have we followed  the principle  of right COC at right age at appropriate dosage ?? Ans: .5: What mistake we have made??  Poor selection of contraceptive seekers for Pills  has exactly happened in our country for last fifty years for poor initial selection (may be irrational & OTC sale) which made undue apprehension amongst the Indian women. It is difficult to rectify the mistake of unsupervised IUCD use & OCP use the damage to community that  have been made for last half century.

. Not all Shoe fit for all (as is the rake in protocol selection of Ov stimulation) similarly  we have come a long way with misatkes in selecting the right formulation to right women!!! I have done this !!!  We, onwards  have to be careful about selection of brands so that she does not become unhappy with  initially choiced COC with minimal or no side effects.

 Q. 4: There are about 30 brands of COC at India. Which one to choose first?? We, the initial prescribers should keep in mind that if some adverse reaction occurs with ingestion of OCP she may stop the initially suggested COC and never use any contraceptive at all possibly in her life time thereby falling prey to repeated unwanted pregncaies and abortions, some of which may be unsafe.

 Q 5: What task ahead ??  Looking back & looking Front: Hard task ahead!!! At this stage to remove the myths or unnecessary concerns pertaining to COCs , IUCDs or even safe POPs is a herculean task.

. No onward  irrational Use of OCP ,and also for IUCDs. Insertion of  IUCD like  Copper IUCD- as well (U kare-250(3 yrs) , U care Cu 375(for 5 yrs) . Q. 7: What are the indications of OCP as of now?? It is worth remembering that, broadly speaking the indications of COC ate three kinds A) For contraception B) For amelioration of some symptoms often called as noncontraceptive benefits of COCs(like AUB-O, Dysmeno, acne, cycle regularization, PMDD abnormal hair groeth, & (?) an endometriosis associated pain)  C) Combined indication that is both contraceptive benefit as well as she warrants some added medical benefit out of choiced contraceptives.
