GDM what is not known?

Glycosylated haemoglobin HbA1c a gold standard in assessing metabolic control is expressed in % value. Even though it is an indicator of average blood glucose control since the unit of expression is not in mg% and since the values are at variance with blood glucose values, the expression is not patient friendly but is confusing to the patient.

When not do HBA1C tets?? Stop before insisting on expenditure incurred on HBA1C!! . Those having conditions such as  A) anemia B) haemoglobinopathies and C)  renal impairment should not be asked for costly HBA1C tests.
How best to mointior glucose  : FBS, PPBS, HBA1C, capillary glucose monitoring seven times a  day three times a week . Continuous glucose monitoring  : The last one  is usually unnecessary:_. A large amount of data on glycemic control can be generated (like Holters) in selected diabetic men & women to note efficacy of drugs. . In this period subject is subjected to continuous interstitial fluid glucose monitoring for 48 hours. In underwent self capillary glucose monitoring seven times a day three times a week for 4 months. Estimated average glucose in mg %,ear=28.7XHbA1c -46.7
. There is a strong case for early diagnosis of diabetes and aggressive management of blood glucose without wasting time immediately after diagnosis of diabetes. Similarly associated risk factors should be promptly identified and quickly brought under control. This will help in our endeavor for primary or secondary prevention of vascular complications of diabetes.
Common mistakes done while taking insulin at home in rural settings: Ones  chamber attendant need to explain in local  language to woman concerned(not talking of GDM) but of established DM as we occasionally see due to late marriage and delayed childbearing ..
